How Your Baby’s Immune System Learns What to Fight
Immunity develops through experience, not isolation.
Your baby’s immune system is not designed to work perfectly from the start.
It needs time and experience to learn the difference between what is harmless and what requires a response.
During pregnancy, your body provides your baby with antibodies that offer early protection.
After birth, this protection slowly decreases, while your baby’s own immune system begins to take over. This transition is gradual and expected.
Everyday exposure to the normal environment plays an important role.
Touching surfaces, putting hands in the mouth, being close to caregivers — these experiences help the immune system practice responding appropriately.
This does not mean seeking illness, but it does mean that occasional infections are part of immune education, not failure.
Over time, the system becomes more efficient and balanced.
